Garage Door Motor and Opener Repair

Motor (Opener) Repair

The garage door opener (often called the “motor”) is responsible for opening and closing the door safely and quietly. When an opener begins to hesitate, grind, hum without moving the door, or fail to respond to remotes or keypads, it may need repair. Common issues include worn gears, faulty sensors, stripped drive components, or simple alignment and connectivity problems.

After an assessment, the technician will determine whether repair is the best option or if upgrading would be more cost-effective based on the age and condition of the unit.

New Motor (Opener) Installation

For homes with aging or unreliable openers, installing a new motor provides smoother operation, improved safety features, and quieter performance. Modern openers offer benefits such as battery backup, Wi-Fi controls, and updated security systems that prevent forced entry through the garage door.

During a new installation, the technician will remove the old unit, install the new opener, and ensure that the door, sensors, remotes, and keypad are working correctly.

Homeowner-Purchased Motor Installation

Some homeowners prefer to purchase their own opener through a home improvement store or online. We are happy to install homeowner-purchased motors, as long as the system is compatible with the existing door and hardware. The technician will review the unit on arrival, confirm compatibility, and complete the installation so the system operates safely and reliably.

Safety Note:
If your garage door won’t open or close, please do not force it, and avoid pulling or pushing on the door. Forcing a non-responsive door can damage the opener, track system, springs, or door panels. If the door is stuck, leave it as-is and contact a technician to diagnose the issue safely.
